We provide 24-hour recovery-focused rehabilitation in a community residential setting to people who usually have multiple complex mental health needs.
Our CCU aim is to support personal growth, resilience and healing to then develop or relearn skills in self-care, domestic skills, communication, community access and social skills. All recovery planning is done collaboratively with the consumer, multidisciplinary team, carers and community agencies with the aim of all parties striving for better consumer outcomes in a least restrictive manner in accordance with Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2014, ultimately fostering the consumer integration into the broader community.
What we do:
Access to multidisciplinary clinical support and treatment, including regular medical psychiatric review, Allied Health assessments and 24-hour nursing support which include ongoing monitoring, engagement, and support for individuals receiving compulsory treatment under the provisions of Mental Health Act 2014.
Evidence based therapeutic group program or 1:1 dependant on consumer needs.
Individualised comprehensive assessments, which focus on symptom screening, identification of psychosocial goals and developing clinical formulation
Carer support inclusive of psycho-education to support family/carers and promotion of continued links between people and their family/carers
Who can use our service
The CCU provides specialized services to consumers who are already registered with a local Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service and:
Have a primary diagnosis of mental disorder and may have associated disability i.e. intellectual disability, drug and alcohol,
Require recovery-oriented community residential treatment and intervention to reduce the impact of ongoing mental ill-health.
Are willing to engage on some level with a multidisciplinary team, and risks are manageable to themselves and others in an open community set up
Reside in the applicable mental health services catchment area for Western Hhealth

Referrals to CCUs can only be made by staff from an Area Mental Health Service
