SO WHAT IS THE WORKPLACE GIVING PROGRAM?
The Staff Workplace Giving Program is a new initiative designed to enable staff to not only contribute towards the environment in which they work, but also an opportunity to decide where the funds they contribute go towards.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN I GET TO DECIDE?
We will give all staff who contribute to the Workplace Giving Program the opportunity to vote on a range of different items that the WH Foundation has received applications for. From all votes received, the project/s that have the most votes will receive funding. The more funds we have, the more projects get funded.
HOW MUCH AM I EXPECTED TO CONTRIBUTE?
The amount you contribute is totally up to you and is 100% voluntary.We understand that all staff work very hard for their money and give a great deal in time and effort to the hospital. As a guide we suggest that you might like to consider $5 or $10 a pay to contribute to the program.
$5 OR $10 A PAY, WHAT DIFFERENCE WILL THAT MAKE?
The impact of this program is that a lot of small contributions makes a big difference.If you contribute $5 per pay over the course of a year that equals $130. Now imagine if we had 1000 people in the hospital take part, we then have $130,000 raised each year.If we have 1000 people contribute $10 per pay that equals $260,000.
CAN I CLAIM MY CONTRIBUTION AT TAX TIME?
You don’t need to worry about collecting receipts or waiting for a statement from the Foundation to claim at tax time, all contributions come out pre-tax from your pay, meaning that you get your tax benefit straight away.
WHAT WILL BE FUNDED?
Initially the Workplace Giving Program is looking to contribute towards equipment and tangible items that will assist the work that you do and those that you assist. The maximum amount of funding that we can provide initially is $5000 for any one application. As the program grows we aim to broaden the range of projects and amount that can be funded.
