The Western Continence Service offers assessment and management of urinary and faecal continence issues. Self-management is promoted whenever possible.
Uroflowmetry and simple bladder ultrasonography
Conservative management strategies including
Advice about daily living with incontinence problems
Pelvic Floor assessment and muscle rehabilitation (including biofeedback and electrical stimulation)
Assessment for continence aids and appliances programs including:
Statewide Equipment Program
Continence Aids Assistance Scheme
Department of Veteran Affairs funding
Surgical or other Specialist referral if appropriate
Liaison with other continence services
Liaison with other appropriate Departments and Service Providers
The Western Continence Service is open Monday to Friday 8am - 4.30pm.
Urodynamic testing is performed at Sunshine Hospital.
Nurse assessments are by appointment either at Sunshine Hospital, Williamstown Hospital, Sunbury Day Hospital or, if necessary and appropriate, at home.
Physiotherapy assessments are by appointment at Sunshine Hospital, Williamstown Hospital and Sunbury Day Hospital.
People with bladder and bowel problems
Clients who usually reside in the Cities of Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Wyndham and the Shire of Melton. For those clients wishing to attend the Western Continence Service who live outside of these areas, please contact the service to discuss the most appropriate continence clinic location.

There is no fee involved and interpreters are always used if needed.
The Service at Sunshine Hospital is located within the Community Based Rehabilitation building. The entrance is to the far right of the main hospital entrance towards the Freeway. Enter through the glass doors and present to reception.
The Service at Williamstown Hospital is located within the Community Based Rehabilitation building. Enter via Stewart Street entrance and present to reception.
The Service at Sunbury Day Hospital is located in the main hospital. Enter via the front doors and present to reception.
Referrals are accepted from a medical doctor. This includes Specialists, GP's and hospital departments. Referrals are received either by fax or mail.
