Audiology is a clinical science involving hearing assessment, balance assessment and hearing rehabilitation.
We see people who have hearing problems or problems with their balance. Hearing assessment often includes a number of specialised tests. These tests help to work out where the problem is and the type of problem within the hearing system.

Acute
A full range of hearing assessments are offered for:
Outpatients
Adults are assessed for a range of hearing problems at Footscray Hospital. Referrals are accepted from Ear, Nose and Throat clinic, other outpatient clinics and inpatient wards at Footscray Hospital.
Children are assessed for hearing at Sunshine Hospital. Referrals are accepted from:
GPs
specialists
health professionals
families.
Babies are referred from the Victorian Infant Hearing Screening Program (VIHSP) for the early detection of hearing impairment.
The paediatric Audiology team work within the Paediatric Allied Health at Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s at Sunshine Hospital.
