New Footscray Hospital facade completed

The final glass panel has been fitted into place on the New Footscray Hospital, marking the completion of the external façade!

The façade has been carefully designed to allow natural light in, creating a welcoming atmosphere for patients, staff, and volunteers.  Our new hospital will provide expansive views of the Melbourne CBD, Footscray Park, the Maribyrnong River and the Western suburbs.  Every patient will have a view of external spaces from their room.

More than 7,500 glass panels have been craned into place with each panel weighing more than 500 kilograms. Panels are double-glazed and include a low-emissivity coating to ensure great energy efficiency. Operable louvered glass is also included on terraces and winter gardens to allow fresh air.

With the hospital's façade complete, work is now focused internally on the services and fit-out of the hospital's buildings.  The new hospital is on track to open in 2025.
