Construction works and temporary changes to access at Sunshine Hospital

Temporary changes to the way people access Sunshine Hospital will come into effect from the evening of Tuesday 28 August 2018.

The changes will allow important work to be undertaken to remove and replace cladding on the ground floor of the Acute Services Building with a compliant building fabric made of solid aluminium.

This follows an audit by the Victorian Cladding Taskforce (completed in November 2017) and the appointment of Cockram Construction by the Department of Health and Human Services to undertake the work.

People arriving at Sunshine Hospital need to be aware of the significant impact on our Furlong Road entrance, between the Emergency Department and the Acute Services Building.

The entire entrance will be closed to vehicles, with the exception of the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, who have been consulted and informed of the changes.

Pedestrian access is unchanged. People will still be able to walk from Furlong Road and from the Emergency Department to the existing Entrance near Main Reception.

Extensive signage and traffic control measures will be in place to divert traffic. Please refer to the map below.

The removal and replacement of the ground floor cladding will take three months. We appreciate your patience, understanding and cooperation as we work to maintain a safe environment during construction.
