Yesterday, Western Health held its annual INSPIRE Awards. These awards recognise employees, volunteers and teams, who foster a positive workplace and inspire others to live our values of compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and safety.
This year there were 58 individual awards and 12 team awards. Three of these were highlighted as Inspirational Story winners:
Donna Roebuck, Ward Clerk, GC Ward Sunshine Hospital
Donna was recognised for her kind, caring, respectful, and compassionate nature. She consistently goes above and beyond in her role, positively impacting our team and the individual patients on the ward.
Patricia Irving, Volunteer, Sunshine ED
Patricia was recognised for her committment to listening and respecting everyone at Western Health. Patricia’s impact on others is profound. A patient’s daughter shared how Patricia’s assistance in locating their mother, who was brought into the emergency by ambulance, was a turning point. Her kindness, respect, and empathy not only alleviated their distress but also left them deeply grateful for her timely help.
Tess Henkel, Associate Nurse Unit Manager, SGC Ward Sunshine Hospital
Tess was recognised for being a supportive person who takes time to educate, support, and guide anyone who asks for her assistance. Tess treats all staff with respect and dignity and partners with consumers and their families to ensure a positive healthcare journey.
There were two Chief Executive Positive Workplace Award recipients, one individual and one team.
Radiologist Dr Lincoln Lim received the individual award, being recognised for his commitment to patient care and support for junior doctors. His enthusiasm and dedication to research, teaching and creating a respectful, nurturing workplace have profoundly impacted Western Health, empowering and inspiring staff to excel and contribute meaningfully.
The Ward 3B Patient Services Assistant Team, with Marissa Giudetti, Ma Fatima Poblete, Elnora Dugas and Elizabete Beshah, received the Chief Executive Positive Workplace Team Award.
The team was highlighted for their positivity, kindness, support and generosity. I was proud to read the difference they make each day to our patients. Never too busy to help, and go above and beyond to ensure patients receive the best care, and do so with kindness and compassion.
