A message from Western Health Board Chair, The Hon Bronwyn Pike.
It was a great honour to represent Western Health for the first time as Board Chair at the Annual Victorian Public Healthcare Awards on 13 October.
It was an even greater delight when Western Health was announced as winner of the category "Premier's Health Service of the Year".
This year, two awards were presented in this category – with the other going to Eastern Health.
This the very first time that Western Health has won the prestigious award and it is so richly deserved.
On behalf of the Board, I want to sincerely thank all the staff of Western Health who work so hard every day to care for the community of the West.
We never underestimate the challenges but the commitment of so many has meant that your efforts to continually improve the quality of Western's service has not gone unnoticed.
In receiving the award, I said that as the new Chair I could not accept the glory but I was happy to bask in it.
Of course our special thanks go to our former Board Chair, The Hon Ralph Willis who, as Board Chair for 10 years, has to take much of the credit for this wonderful award.
I know that Ralph will be absolutely thrilled.
