Western Health has been announced as a Finalist in two categories of the Victorian Training Awards for 2016, including the prestigious Large Employer of the Year Award

Western Health has been selected as one of 3 finalists in this year's Victorian Training Awards in 2 categories:

  1. Large Employer of the Year award: Which recognises excellence in providing nationally recognised training to employees. The Western Health RTO was a finalist in the 2015 awards with McDonalds Australia taking the honors.

  2. Victorian Industry Collaboration of the Year Award: Western Health RTO & Victoria Polytechnic (TAFE Division of Victoria University) Celebrating the significance and success of our longstanding collaboration with the following programs:

    • Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing) Transition Program

    • Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management

    • Graduate Certificate in Management (Healthcare Leadership)

Western Health's submissions, prepared by the manager of our RTO, Annette de Jager, focused on the large range of nationally accredited qualifications and short courses provided to our 6,500 employees via the Western Health RTO; the innovative programs and tools developed to deliver these qualifications; as well as our collaboration with Victoria Polytechnic (TAFE Division of Victoria University) / SWC Training and our learning pathways initiative that enables Western Health employees to achieve sustainable careers in the health sector and beyond.

Being recognised as a finalist for the Large Employer of the Year category has highlighted the extent of training undertaken by Western Health staff via the Western Health RTO to ensure all staff have access to training opportunities. We are also dedicated to assisting Western Health staff to increase their capacity to service the changing needs of our community.

Executive Director People, Culture and Communication, Suellen Bruce,, said that the organisation was thrilled to have been selected as finalists in two categories for this year’s Victorian Training Awards as it recognised the organisation’s commitment to and high quality standard of training as well as celebrating the success of our industry collaboration with Victoria University.

“Western Health has created development opportunities available for all staff to access nationally recognised training and professional development programs across all levels of the organisation, with the aim of providing prospects for staff to grow and contribute to the wider health sector, while improving the care we provide to our patients and community.
