Volunteering at Western Health

Vision Statement

Caring for the West
Patients - Staff - Community - Environment

Welcome to Volunteering at Western Health. Western Health on a typical day provides over $1 million dollars of health and well being services to the people of the West. It treats 324 patients across 3 emergency departments and welcomes 10 babies into the world. The Sunshine & Williamstown sites assist 89 people within the Community Based Rehabilitation Units and 120 patients within the outpatients units. All this and more is done with the support of the Western Health Volunteer Team.

The Western Health Volunteer Team operates across the Footscray, Sunshine and Williamstown Hospitals. It also has volunteers within the Reg Geary and Hazeldean Nursing Homes and shortly will have volunteers supporting patients and staff at the newly built Sunbury Day Hospital.

The Western Health Volunteer Team ranges in age and experience from local secondary school aged teenagers to our dedicated 85+ year olds. We embrace within the organisation the skills, experiences, cultures, beliefs and personalities that this brings with it and celebrate the value added that this gives to the community of the West.

Being part of the Western Health Volunteer Team you will be exposed to ongoing and relevant training opportunities. Face to face contact with your Volunteer Coordinator, supportive environment that formally acknowledges and celebrates your contribution and a focus on enabling you to be able to connect with your community in a worthwhile way.
