| Western Health is assisted by an army of 300 volunteers who donate their time and energy to benefit the health of the West. Volunteers can assist with fundraising by becoming a member of an Auxiliary attached to one of our main public hospitals. Fundraising work involves raffles, tin rattling, working in Western Health's opportunity shops located in Williamstown, Footscray and Sunshine or selling brand new clothes and accessories in the Auxiliary Shops at the Sunshine and Western Hospitals. All funds raised go towards purchasing life saving medical equipment. Volunteers can choose to provide adminstrative assistance in the day-to-day operations of our hosptials or nursing homes. This may include transporting files, organising mass mail outs, filing and other general office administration activities. Volunteers may also choose to assist in Western Health's major events. Volunteers are also involved directly in patient welfare by either being a guide to patients and visitors around our hospital sites, providing tea and coffee to patients waiting for appointments, providing a newspaper service to patient bedsides or providing a patient visitor and support service. |
