Oncology Research
As a founding member of Cancer Trials Australia and a partner in the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Parkville, Western Health has long been recognised as an important provider of Cancer Care to Victorians. The Oncology Research Unit holds strong partnerships with collaborative research groups such as the Australian Gastrointestinal trials Group, Australia and New Zealand Breast Cancer Trials Group, International Breast Cancer Study Group, Australia and New Zealand Germ Cell Trials Group, Gynaecologic Cancer Intergroup, Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group and the Australasian Leukaemia & Lymphoma Study Group.
With a team of nine senior research nurses, a data manager, administrative assistant and dedicated Research Fellow, we are implicated in a range of clinical trials, both national and international, across all tumour streams and phases (I – III).

Projects Team
Western Health has a dedicated Cancer Services Project Team who provide support in the planning, delivery, implementation and evaluation of all cancer related projects across the Western Health network.
The Project Team works closely with clinicians and Western Health partners which has allowed successful implementation of new initiatives such as the Symptom Urgent Review Clinic (SURC) for cancer patients.
We are located at Sunshine Hospital, Level 1 Acute Services Building.
