On Thursday 13 August, families, friends and society guests attended the 2015 BreastWest Fashion Gala event to help raise vital funds to support women in Melbourne's west with breast cancer.
The special Diamond themed fashion gala was attended by Marina Prior, who performed a repetoire of hit songs from her musicals, and guests including some of Melbourne west’s top entrepreneurs and dignitaries.
Twelve brave and beautiful cancer patients were dressed in a range of designer outfits provided by David Jones Highpoint, and were each escorted by a member of the Western Bulldogs AFL team and paraded up and down the catwalk looking stylish and chic.
The event, supported by major sponsor Aust Cafe, helped to raise an incredible $64,000 which will go towards funding a Breast Specimen Scanner - an important new
technology, which provides on the spot analysis of tissue specimens, resulting in less time
in surgery and better care for women having surgery for breast cancer.
2015 BreastWest Fashion Gala was organised and attended by a committee of the charity’s dedicated staff and supporters and local dignitries and businesses including; the Hon. Nicola Roxon, the Hon. Bronwyn Pike, Western Bulldogs Chairman Peter Gordon, Qenos, Bank Vic, Maxxia, Dorevitch, Highpoint, Victoria University, The Valley, Zagame, Western Bulldogs, The Hugo, Kennedy & Hunt, Matthew Ely, Harvey Norman Sunshine and ToxFree.
The committee hopes to raise $500,000 for the charity over the next five years with a range of fundraising activities and events.
There was an exclusive opportunity for guests to win a stunning 18ct White Gold Diamond hinged bracelet, showcasing 388 round brilliant cut diamonds totalling 2.56ct set in an ornate lace design, bid to drive a Maserati for a weekend in the luxury silent auction, buy special gift boxes, and pledge donations towards special breastcare packs at the hospital, including a range of essential items.
