In September 2013, Western Health launched a new Young Adult Diabetes Service (YADS), catering specifically for adolescents and young people aged 15 to 25 years and is currently running monthly.
The Young Adult Diabetes Service continues to work on improving links with local GP's and access to acute diabetes support between YADS clinics, so that young people can receive timely and appropriate advice for unstable diabetes and other diabetes related issues.
In 2013, Western Health appointed a nationally recognised specialist adolescent endocrinologist to head up a new Young Adult Diabetes Service. With this key appointment, Western Health commenced a long term commitment to provide the best possible care to the increasing number of young people with diabetes in Western Melbourne.
YADS has made significant progress in a short time. We are seeking your support to expand this program and to connect with our high risk young client group . . . .to develop new ways to 'connect', engage and help them manage their care.
