Head and Neck procedures are undertaken within Western Health utilizing a new technique - known as the free flap repair, which improves patient outcomes. The improvements include minimal requirement for subsequent surgical procedures, no requirement for Intensive Care services, a more acceptable cosmetic outcome for the patient and improved patient satisfaction and a resultant decrease in length of stay from 10 days to 5 - 7 days. In addition to this new technique, Western Health has established a multidisciplinary Head and Neck outpatient clinic to ensure all treatment options are explored with the patient.
