The Falls and Mobility Clinic offers a Medical Specialist assessment to people who are falling or are having near falls and where the cause is not known.
Services Offered
- Specialist medical assessment by a doctor who specialises in age related medical problems.
- Information on appropriate falls prevention measures
- If required, a referral to therapy to assist with Fall prevention
- Contact with your General Practitioner about your Falls or near falls.
The Falls and Mobility Clinic does not provide ongoing treatment or case management but other services within the hospital are able to offer these services if needed. Usually therapy is provided by the Western Health's service located at Sunshine and Williamstown hospitals.
Who May Use the Service?
- Adults who have an unclear cause for falls or near falls and require a medical opinion.
- People usually reside in the Cities of Brimbank, Hobson's Bay, Maribyrnong, Wyndham and the Shire of Melton.
- For those people wishing to attend Western Health's Falls and Mobility Clinic who live outside of these areas, please contact the service to discuss the most appropriate Clinic location.
How does the Clinic operate?
Medical assessments are by appointment at Sunshine Hospital.
There is no fee involved and interpreters are always used if needed.
Location
The Falls and Mobility Clinic is located within the Community Based Rehabilitation building at the Sunshine Hospital, 176 Furlong Road St. Albans.
The entrance is to the far right of the main hospital entrance towards the Freeway. Enter through the glass doors and present to reception.
