The Western Health Diabetes Education Team provides client focused, culturally appropriate diabetes education to people affected by diabetes and their families.  Western Health provides education across 3 campuses to inpatients of Western, Sunshine and The Williamstown Hospitals.  A Diabetes Educator Outpatient Clinic is also available to all Outpatients of Western Health. 

Western Health is a Centre of Excellence in Insulin Pump Initiation and stabilisation.

INSULIN PUMPS

There are a variety of insulin pumps available to meet each individuals need. Currently insulin pumps are only available to a patient with Type 1 diabetes.Western Hospital Pump Service is a private service. Patients without Private Health Insurance must meet the full cost of the pump and training. Public patients without health insurance would face an out of pocket cost of $8,000 - $8,500 depending on the chosen type of pump.
