Teaching, Training & Research Centre at Sunshine: TTR West
TTR West's concrete structure is nearing completion with the 5th and final level currently being constructed.
The visually striking building facade is currently being installed, featuring black and white concrete blades and panels across all levels. These panels will help shade the sun and regulate the temperature of the building, performing an important environmental role.
TTR West will transform Sunshine Hospital into a major provider of education and training opportunities for current and future health care professionals. The research facilities will play a pivotal role in investigating illnesses that particularly affect people living in the West.
TTR West is on schedule to be completed by November 2010, becoming operational in 2011.
Radiotherapy Facility at Sunshine
Construction of the single level structure is now well advanced, with the ground slab, structural columns and precast concrete wall panels all in progress.
The large concrete wall panels surrounding the four radiotherapy machine bunkers are also currently being installed, and will provide radiation shielding and structural support.
The Radiotherapy facility at Sunshine will be the only one of its kind for public patients in the West. The development means that local residents will no longer need to travel to East Melbourne of Geelong to receive vital treatment. Up to 900 people per year will be able to receive the best possible care within their own community.
The building is on schedule to be completed by November 2010, becoming operation in 2011.
Sunbury Day Hospital
The brand new hospital in Sunbury will ensure local residents have direct access to health services. The development will deliver a range of services, with a view to effectively provide for a growing and ageing population.
The construction of the new Sunbury Day Hospital is also progressing on time and is due for completion in late 2010.
