Western Health has been allocated xxx to provide for the construction of a Teaching, Training and Research Facility, known as TTR West.

Western Health has partnered with the University of Melbourne and Victoria University to develop a new teaching, training and research facility at Sunshine Hospital

The University of Melbourne will establish a new clinical school at TTR West to provide undergraduate and postgraduate training of doctors in the West. This will assist in addressing a national shortage of doctors, particularly in outer metropolitan regions

Victoria University will establish a centre for the education and training of nurses and allied health professionals.

TTR West will house researchers investigating diseases that particularly affect the population of the West including diabetes, heart disease, cancer and osteoporosis.

The building will be an iconic contemporary state of the art building incorporating a library, lecture theatre, auditorium and large clinical skills facilities to provide future health care professionals with one-stop-shop education and training.

Capital costs are $51m and includes contributions from the University of Melbourne and Victoria University of $8m each, from the Federal Government of $7m in addition to the State Government funding.
