Sunshine Hospital Radiation Therapy Centre
The Centre, a partnership between Western Health and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, provides a state-of-the-art radiation planning system and two linear accelerators to deliver treatment to patients with a range of cancers. Two additional bunker spaces have been included to provide for projected future growth.
Western Health Office for Research
Western Health encourages research that improves outcomes for patients and promotes new and better clinical practice and service delivery. Western Health has highly effective collaborative partnerships for research throughout Australia and the world with universities, hospitals, research groups and industry. The Western Health Office for Research provides a focal point for our research efforts.
Centre for Education
Through our Centre for Education, Western Health aims to provide work based education and training for Western Health employees, students and external applicants which will support excellence in practice and career progression opportunities. Our approach to education seeks to promote the engagement of students and employees and the empowerment of patients. We are pursuing multi-disciplinary approaches, patient-centred care and lifelong learning.
Western Health offers continuing education courses with the aim of enabling the healthcare workforce to maintain current skills and knowledge and foster professional development and expertise.
All programs utilise the services of suitably qualified and vocationally experienced educators and clinicians and cover a wide variety of clinical and professional topics. Programs range in duration from half a day to two days.
Located at Sunshine Hospital, WCHRE provides a range of purpose built, state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities. Available within the Centre is a 200 seat auditorium, a 100 seat lecture theatre, library facilities, simulation centres and a number of seminar and tutorial rooms.
The Centre is home to the Western Clinical School for Medicine and Allied Health in partnership with the University of Melbourne and also houses researchers, academics and educators from Western Health, Victoria University and the University of Melbourne.
Library Service
The Western Health Library Service has 2 physical locations at Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital.
Our Libraries provide study areas with computers, audio-visual resources, electronic resources, printing and photocopying facilities along with hard-copy resources such as journals, texts, videos and CD's. Qualified library employees provide relevant, timely and quality information to library users, in order to provide support in patient care, teaching, learning and research.
