| Description | The Western Health Intensive Care Unit is a 14 bed general Intensive Care Unit that admits approximately 850 patients per annum. A teaching program designed for trainees in Intensive Care, Anaesthesia, and Emergency Medicine is provided. The unit also has an active research program in which trainees are encouraged to participate. The Unit is approved for core training by the Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine. The department has the following positions are available in 2009: ICU/Anaesthetics Registrar - 2 x positions (each would involve 6 months Anaesthetics and 6 month Intensive Care Unit placements). These positions will suit those ICU trainees seeking 12 months Anaesthetics and 12 months ICU over a 2 year period. Intensive Care Unit Registrar - 1 x position (this position suits a trainee seeking 12 months ICU experience. The opportunity exists for this position to meet the needs of a senior registrar.
